Krakow wasn’t the city, where the football teams were played the games, but it was the town where football teams from Italy, UK and Netherlands were accommodated. The habitant of Krakow were divided into those, who had positive attitude to Euro 2012 in Krakow and those, who were against to coming Krakow in this event. The antagonist and the supporters had many arguments to bring around the public opinion and Krakow governments. For example, opponents clammed, that this event required big investments, which meant, the city would be obligated to pay down a lot of money for preparation to it. But on the other hand, most of investments, which the UEFA Executive Committee had ordered, was necessary for Krakow Town to be, more attractive and comfortable for tourist, but the most for habitants. This investments involve the public transport, the trainings for police, also the language courses for a public services. More over, Krakow governments were going to organize special area – Fan Zone and in effect, Krakow did it on village green (Blonia) next to Cracovia stadium. This was place were football fans could play and support their favourite teams, watching the games on large screens. The main slogan of Fan Sector was “multiculturalism”. Fan Zone was divided to many parties, which were decorated according to particular country, to create spaces, where football fans feel like home:)

The organizers want to create place for everyone, men, women, teenager, kids – everyone should find something interesting, not only sport attractions. And for that matter, the Fan Zone was offered many different initiative like, ecological initiative, social initiative or cultural initiative. Read more about local attractions here:

Of course, those who had negative attitude, were complaining about drinking people in whole city. I must admit that partly, they were right, (it is known, people which celebrating something, especially sports events want to enjoy and they don’t avoid alcohol) but Euro 2012 opponents magnify this problem. People live in Krakow should be aware that, this town is special and very popular among the foreign tourist, so it is possible to second-guess, that Euro 2012 will make descent of tourist, who would want to round the football tournament see some interesting places in Poland. Krakow is known as to Cultural Capital of Poland so, there is tourist season whole year. More over, tourists are very important for Krakow, cause they reinvigorate Krakow economy. Thanks to them, Krakow is still Cultural Capital of Poland. It would be stupid, if Krakow governments had passive attitude to such big undertaking, which was the opportunity to promote the city and tourist attractions.

Since this time many small companies raised up, expand, which mean, that many people get job and the redundancy was decrease. A lot of money was paid down on public transport. I don’t mean just increase number of bus line, or tram line but I mean the building new roads, road connections, or apply new technologies solutions to make facilities for drivers. The tourist had ability to using also private companies to transfers. For those time Krakow tour services extend much. Tourist had possibility to select among many kind of tour from Krakow by private, luxury,(or less luxury) companies. For example Tour to Auschwitz or Krakow Walking Tour, or Zakopane Tour. I guess that many cities and tourist places were gained from engagement of Krakow in to Euro 2012. To sum up, Krakow used opportunity to promote himself, though it took some money.
